    Mindy’s Review…

Pot Roast Sportsmans Grille Williamsburg, VirginiaWhen I think of a sports bar/restaurant, I do not typically think of food that is extraordinary, but rather average bar food. The Sportsmans Grille surprised me, not only with the kinds of foods they offered, but even more so with the taste of these foods. I really enjoyed eating the Referee’s Roast, which was recommended as a customer favorite. This is an open faced pot roast sandwich with juicy, tender beef topped with a heaping portion of mushrooms and onions and smothered in their delicious gravy. I also enjoyed tasting their juicy burger as well as the Birdie Chicken Salad. Each day they serve the Birdie Chicken Salad with a new sweet bread. When we went, the bread of the day was chocolate bread, much to the delight of our 3 year old. When we asked her what her favorite part of the meal was, she said the chocolate bread.

    My Favorite Thing:
The Referee’s Roast. This was by far my favorite part of the visit. It was so much that I could not finish it in one sitting! I was salivating just thinking about the next time I could eat it for leftovers. Even now I can’t wait to go back to eat it again!

What I would like to try next time:
The Sundried Tomato Pesto Chicken Wrap (Grilled chicken breast, romaine lettuce, and sundried tomato pesto wrapped in a flour tortilla).

Chicken Salad Sportsmans Grille Williamsburg, VirginiaGood Food After a Round of Golf

The immediate feeling you get when you walk in the door is “Golf Clubhouse”. It has that type of feel. Sports games on a bunch of tv’s, business folk and guys dressed in golf attire having lunch together and sports memorabilia decorating the walls. With dishes like “Bases Loaded Nachos”, “Super Bowl Salad” and “Linebacker’s Chili”, it’s no surprise that the name of this restaurant is The Sportsmans Grille. It’s just the perfect place to relax after shooting 18 holes or to meet a business buddy for lunch. Very casual and relaxing. No stuffy feeling here.

The food was really good. The Referee’s Roast was delicious. “Slow cooked pot roast served open face with sautéed onions, mushrooms and gravy”. They recommended it and they were right. It was so good. I also liked the Birdie Chicken Salad. “Seasoned white meat chicken mixed with chutney and topped with pecans”. The slightly sweet chicken salad with pecans over a bed of cool lettuce worked well. I really enjoyed it.

    My Favorite Thing:
The Referee’s Roast. Mindy and I agree. This was the best dish that we had.

What I would like to try next time:
“Steel City” Pattymelt. “An 8oz. ground beef burger cooked to order and wedged between a traditional grilled cheese sandwich”. I’d also like to come here in the evening next time because of the other menu options they have available for dinner.
